About Us

The Lake Macquarie Half Marathon commenced in 1984. This year will see the 23rd consecutive running of the event. The event peaked with over 1000 competitors last year. The School Relay is a part of this event, which is proving to be gaining quite a bit of interest from local schools showing interesting in participation.

The 2008 event will be held on Sunday 31st August and positions it within the running calendar to take advantage of the Sydney Marathon that will be held two weeks later.

The event has also been expanded to include other races and/or activities that will enable the broader community to compete/participate in an international standard event. The other events are a 10.5km Run and a 10.5km Community Walk.

The course location on The Esplanade, Warners Bay is adjacent to the beautiful foreshores of Lake Macquarie and is a multi loop course – See Course Map for more details.

This event would not be possible without the tireless help and support from our excellent volunteers and sponsors, who have helped to build a fantastic and well-recognised event for runners around Australia.
